In the joint operation with the Police and UPDF, Matugga Police received calls from UPDF officers in Kapeeka about a hunt for some identified persons who raided villages and slaughtered stolen livestock.

Division Police Commander in Matugga, Yudaya Mugoba, revealed that his team received information from security officers in Kapeeka and Semuto about some suspects they are tracking from Kapeeka and Semuto.

At a checkpoint in Kavule along Semuto Road, the Police stopped a commuter taxi whose occupants included the suspects.

Exhibits recovered include: six goat carcasses, a knife, sacks and polythene bags.

Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed that they had stolen the goats from Kavule ward and Mpwererwe ward in Gombe division, intending to sell them in Kalerwe.

Mugoya said that the operation was part of ongoing intelligence to curb crime in the area, and the suspects remain in detention as investigations continue.

According to Mugoya, the suspects are likely to be part of the gang terrorising Mukono, Wakiso, Luwero and Nakaseke.

Mugoya also said that they have received numerous complaints from different residents about rampant cattle thefts in different areas of Gombe division and other areas around Wakiso district.
