Woman charged over death of TikToker

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated robbery and murder of TikTok content creator and waitress Jovia Namuwulya in Bukoto, Kampala.
Patricia Rose Turindwamukama appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu at City Hall Court, where she was charged alongside another suspect, who is still at large.
State Attorney Mercy Yamangusho informed court that investigations into the case are still ongoing.
According to the charge sheet, Turindwamukama and her unnamed accomplice, on the night of August 20, 2026, at Mukalazi Zone, Kampala District, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Namuwulya.
Turindwamukama was also charged with an offence of theft of an iPhone worth sh2m, clothes worth sh200,000 and a passport belonging to Namuwulya.
The magistrate told her that court has no jurisdiction to try her case and advised her to apply for bail in the High Court.
She also faces a charge of aggravated robbery, contrary to sections 285 and 286(2) of the Penal Code Act (Cap 128).
The magistrate adjourned her case until September 24, when her case will come up again for mention.
Namuwulya was found dead at her house in Bukoto on August 20, 2026, after relatives became concerned when they failed to reach her by phone.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala explained that Namuwulya had rented the room in which she was killed about seven months earlier.

She reportedly brought in her friend, Turindwamukama, who later started living with her in the same room.
Kawala said Namuwulya's relatives contacted her caretaker on August 20, after she stopped responding to their calls.
The caretaker and Namuwulya's sister went to the room but found it locked.
“Looking through the window, they observed blood stains inside the room. They subsequently accessed the room and found her lying in a pool of blood,” Kawala said.
Police took Namuwulya's body to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Turindwamukama reportedly fled the scene after the death, but she was subsequently traced and arrested.
Kawala said Namuwulya's relatives contacted her caretaker on August 20, after she stopped responding to their calls.
The caretaker and Namuwulya's sister went to the room but found it locked.
