"On May 6,  2026, the manager of the forex bureau and his colleague left Bunga Trading Centre on a motorcycle carrying $13,000 to exchange it into Uganda shillings," Owoyesigyire said.

He revealed that after the transaction at a forex bureau along Kampala Road, the men were intercepted at Nsambya and robbed of the cash by a gang riding on motorcycles.

"Investigations led to the recovery of a motorcycle reg. no. UMA 655GK, whose number plate was found to have been forged to conceal the identity of the motorcycle used in the robbery," he added.

He explained that on Friday, June 12, 2026, police arrested Yudah Kamoga, alias "Sparta", and Arnold Kayabula, a boda boda cyclist, in connection with the robbery.

"A motorcycle registration number UMA 602KK, believed to be linked to the case, was also recovered," he said.

Owoyesigyire noted that the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish their roles and apprehend other accomplices.

The Police report followed an outcry on social media with users reposting video footage of the robbery.

Owoyesigyire confirmed that the footage shows a group of assailants who attacked two victims before robbing them of cash that had reportedly been withdrawn from a forex bureau.
