Centenary, MicroPay partner to expand digital access to education, healthcare and insurance

Centenary Group, through its technology subsidiary Centenary Technology Services (Cente-Tech), has partnered with MicroPay Uganda to develop digital solutions aimed at improving access to education, healthcare and insurance services across Uganda.
The partnership, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently at Mapeera House in Kampala, seeks to leverage technology to remove barriers that prevent many Ugandans from conveniently accessing and paying for essential services.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Centenary Group Board Chairman Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu said the collaboration builds on the Group's long-standing commitment to financial inclusion, particularly for underserved communities.
"Centenary's story has always been about reaching the people other institutions overlooked. Our legacy is to ensure meaningful inclusion reaches the last mile," he said.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will jointly develop digital platforms that make education financing more flexible, healthcare services more accessible and insurance services easier to access and manage.
For education, the partners plan to introduce digital tools that will enable parents and guardians to save for school fees, pay in instalments and potentially qualify for financing based on their payment history. Schools will also benefit from improved visibility of fee collections and cash flows.
In healthcare, the partnership will use digital technology and agent networks to bring services closer to communities, reducing challenges associated with distance and payment.

"Our measure of success will not be today's ceremony but seeing school fees paid without queues and insurance claims settled in days instead of weeks," Kahiigi said.
MicroPay Uganda Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ndyareeba Grace Stuart described the partnership as a significant step towards advancing financial inclusion through collaboration.
He noted that by combining MicroPay's 12 years of experience in digital payments with Centenary Group's nationwide presence, the partners are well positioned to transform access to essential services and improve the lives of communities across Uganda.
