Roke Telkom has announced a new path from an internet connectivity provider to a comprehensive Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions company, as the Ugandan-owned firm marks 20 years of operations in the country's telecommunications sector.
The company announced the milestone during the launch of its Roke@20 celebrations at Roke House in Bugolobi, Kampala, on Wednesday, bringing together industry stakeholders, partners and customers, with Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Executive Director Hon. Nyombi Thembo as the guest of honour.

Founded by Ugandans with a vision of extending internet access to underserved communities, businesses and locations, Roke Telkom has spent the past two decades expanding its operations beyond connectivity to provide integrated ICT solutions that respond to the changing technological needs of businesses and organisations.
Speaking at the launch, Roke Telkom's outgoing Chief Executive Officer Peter Muhumuza said the 20-year milestone reflects the company's resilience, continued investment and ability to adapt to changes in the technology sector.
"Twenty years ago, we started with a simple but important ambition: to make internet access more accessible to Ugandans. Through resilience, investment and continuous innovation, we have grown beyond connectivity into a company providing ICT solutions that respond to the evolving needs of businesses and organisations. We are proud of how far we have come and excited about what the future holds," Muhumuza said.
Over the years, the company has invested in infrastructure, established strategic partnerships and adapted its services to meet changing customer expectations, positioning itself to serve a market increasingly dependent on reliable internet connectivity and integrated technology solutions.

Guest of Honour Nyombi Thembo commended Roke Telkom for its contribution to Uganda's telecommunications and ICT landscape, describing homegrown companies as important players in advancing the country's digital transformation.
"Uganda's digital transformation depends on the continued growth of a strong and innovative ICT sector. Homegrown companies such as Roke Telkom play an important role in expanding connectivity, supporting businesses and contributing to the development of our digital ecosystem. As we look ahead, continued investment, innovation and collaboration will be critical in ensuring that technology creates opportunities for more Ugandans," Thembo said.
As it enters its third decade, Roke Telkom says it remains focused on strengthening its capabilities, embracing emerging technologies and delivering solutions that enable businesses and organisations to operate effectively in an increasingly digital economy.
