Express FC CEO Ashraf Miiro has attributed the sacking of coach James Odoch and his assistant Eric Ndifuna to poor results.

Express has gone five matches without a win.

“The coach and his assistant contracts were terminated based on performance. The club was not performing to our expectations and we thought they would not improve,” noted Miiro.

There have been allegations of match fixing and it may be the reason the duo was sacked but Miiro has refuted that.

“I have not got information on that and my termination letter to the coaches was based on performance. Match-fixing allegations are everywhere in the entire football world. You expect to hear such talk when the team is losing. Those with concrete evidence on match-fixing are FUFA because they can investigate it. For us we work on performance,” noted Miiro.

This comes at a time when Express is preparing to host their rivals SC Villa on Friday at Wankulukuku in the biggest derby in Ugandan football.

Express FC legend Hassan Mubiru takes over the team on an interim basis until a new coach is appointed.
