Express FC goalkeeper Yunus Abubaker was the hero as Express defeated URA 1-0 on Saturday in the Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku Stadium.

Abubaker who was named man-of-the-match made several point-blank saves to deny URA forwards scoring chances.

Abubaker attributed this to the trust he gets from his teammates and technical team.

"I'm happy for today's result against URA. We had gone three games without a win. We worked as a team and we decided to fight for this result. I thank God for enabling me to be man-of-the-match. All this comes from training and also having trust from the coaches," stated Abubaker.

Striker Isaac Wagoina scored the all-important goal for the Red Eagles.

Coach Abubaker Mbowa hailed the character of the team as he registered his first win at Express since replacing Alex Isabirye.

"Today was our opportunity to see that we won the match. Hopefully, the team is going to improve and we have to do better in the next matches. The good thing some of the players who are injured will be returning. This win has taken as far," noted Mbowa.

For URA, they continued to struggle as they have failed to pick up a win in their last five games in all competitions and coach David Obua cut an unhappy and frustrated figure at Wankulukuku.

Elsewhere, BUL registered their second victory of the second round after beating Wakiso Giants 3-0 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

Alex Kitata scored a brace before Jerome Kirya added another to see BUL move second with 43 points.
