Wakiso Giants' new coach John Luyinda has promised to help Wakiso Giants continue to grow in Ugandan football.

Luyinda who has been assistant to several coaches including Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa at KCCA, George Nsimbe at Vipers and Abdallah Mubiru at Police, now gets to run his own show.

“I know the club’s ambitions and that’s what I have come to achieve with them. After being an assistant coach for some time, I believe I have managed to learn a lot. I’m going to transform Wakiso Giants into a better team,” noted Luyinda.

Luyinda has been handed a two-year contract until June 2024, with the option to extend for a further year.

The unveiling was done by CEO Sula Kamoga, chairman Hassan Lule, and head of communications, Ismail Kiyonga, on Monday in Kampala.

He replaces Alex Gitta who parted ways with the club just before the end of last season.

Gitta’s assistants Isaac Ssekweyama, goalkeeping coach Swaibu Ssebagala, and trainer William Kasozi have been shown the exit door and were replaced by Pius Ngabo (assistant coach), Richard Kansole (goalkeeping coach), Hakim Ssenkumba (trainer), Alex Kizito (junior team coach) and Keith Walusimbi (team doctor).

Kamoga urged the technical team to excel and promised to make sure they are well equipped for the task.

“This club has taken time to assess the new technical team and we believe they have the necessary tools and skills that can help them prosper and excel at their job. We continue to commit as we have always done to support them in all ways,” he said.
