Peter Sifuma delivered a dominant performance with 23 points, 11 rebounds and one assist as JT Jaguars returned to winning ways with a 77-60 victory over Victoria Crocs on March 21, 2026.

The win ended a run of three consecutive losses and eased pressure on the Jaguars, who had struggled in recent outings.

Sifuma said the victory was built on togetherness and determination.

“We had a tough run, losing three straight games, but we stayed together, trusted the system and showed hunger today. This win is important for our confidence,” he said.

The Jaguars came into the game under pressure after narrow defeats to Sommet and UPDF Tomahawks, and a heavy loss to Kampala Rockets. However, they responded strongly, dominating the first quarter 25-11 to set the pace.

They maintained control through solid defence and quick ball movement, opening a big lead by half-time and keeping the Crocs at bay in the third quarter.

Sifuma emphasised the team effort.

“We moved the ball well, defended as a team, and stayed focused throughout the game. Everyone contributed and that made the difference today.”

Victoria Crocs, who were also looking to recover from defeats to Namuwongo Blazers and UCU Canons, failed to match the Jaguars’ intensity.

“We knew Crocs would come hard because they also needed a result, but we stayed disciplined, executed our plan and made sure we controlled the tempo from start to finish,” he added.

“They were pushing to bounce back, but we stayed calm, defended well, and punished their mistakes. That helped us control the game and secure the win.”

Ian Lubwama added 14 points, one rebound and eight assists, while Chuol Dut Abraham Akuei and George Cristian Odeke each scored eight points.

For the Crocs, Blessed Cerdic Alema led with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Mark Ngobi contributed 13 points and Ronald Ayume added 11.

In other games, Namuwongo Blazers defeated JKL Dolphins 68-49, while UMU Flames secured their first win of the season with a 61-52 victory over UPDF Tomahawks.

In the women’s games, JT Lady Jaguars cruised past Magic Stormers 70-36, and KIU Rangers edged UPDF Lady Tomahawks 49-43.

Meanwhile, Friday’s National Basketball League games were postponed by the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) to allow Muslim players and the wider community to celebrate Idd al-Fitr.

Two fixtures had been scheduled at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, with JKL Lady Dolphins set to face UCU Lady Canons before City Oilers took on UCU Canons later in the evening.

This marked the second postponement last week after Wednesday’s games at Jaguars Den in Kira were rescheduled following the passing of JT Lady Jaguars guard Rhoda Naggita’s father.

City Oilers and UCU Lady Canons remain the only unbeaten teams this season so far.
