She Corporates primed for CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers

She Corporates coach Hassan Issa says they want to make a statement in the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA zonal qualifiers that get underway this weekend in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Issa was speaking after naming final squad for the competition.

“We want to make a statement. When you look at the preparation of the team, we are really ready for competition. We want to transform the performance we had in the league and double it,” noted Issa.

The team, composed of two goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders and six forwards, is set to leave for Tanzania on Friday ahead of their opening game on Sunday against Yei Joint Stars from South Sudan.

She Corporates is placed in Group B with Tanzanian champions Simba Queens, Yei, and GRFC of Burundi.

After Sunday’s match, they will battle Simba on August 17 and climax the group stages with a match against GRFC on August 20.

She Corporates have so far added striker Anitah Namata from Uganda Martyrs Lubaga, left back Phoebe Banura from UCU Lady Cardinals, forward Joanita Ainembabazi from Rines, goalkeeper Zahara Nankya from newly promoted Makerere University, right back Cissy Nakate from UCU, forward Jackline Nakasi from UCU, midfielder Esther Naluyimba from Uganda Martyrs and striker Spencer Nakacwa from Lady Doves.

All the new signings are part of the travelling squad.

She Corporates won the FUFA Women Super League on goal difference after finishing level on 39 points with Kampala Queens.

Goalkeepers: Daphine Nyayenga, Zahara Nankya, Fatuma Matovu.

Defenders: Amina Nakato, Cissy Nakate, Phoebe Banura, Stella Musibika, Swabra Nkomba, Margret Namirimu and Anitah Arinda.

Midfielders: Phiona Nabbumba, Naume Nagadya, Cissy Nantongo, Esther Naluyimba, Winnie Nabbale.

Forwards: Favour Nambatya, Anitah Namata, Jackline Nakasi, Noelline Namiiro, Joan Ainembabazi, Spencer Nakacwa.
