Secondary School side Boni Consilii Girls Isingiro football team’s dream of competing at the top level of the local women's football competitions is alive as the school side made it to their maiden round of 32 in the FUFA Women's Cup.
The Isingiro-based and non-league side entered the competition for the first time this year and reached the round of 32 after eliminating regional side She Gist of Mbarara 5-4 on penalties on Saturday at Riverside Stadium in Kakoba, Mbarara City.
According to the round of 32 draws held at FUFA house Mengo on Monday, Boni Consilii will play host to 2019 champions Makerere University at the school grounds away to regional league side She Gist at BSU’s Riverside Stadium on Saturday, March 9.
“We are happy with the draw which pits us against a team with vast experience and because we are in this competition to learn, we are not taking the next step any different from our objective. Our opponents are very much experienced in the local football competitions and they will offer our girls the much-needed lessons,” Said team manager Primus Ngabirano.
Defending champions Uganda Martyrs travel to Entebbe to play against Buganda regional league side Entebbe Pride while last year’s finalists She Maroons also travel away to play another Buganda regional side Golden Impact.
