The City Oilers are back in that familiar zone of comfort. Where victory is guaranteed against the majority of the National Basketball League (NBL) just by showing up.

Their win yesterday against the UDPF Tomahawks was everything you would expect—enjoyable and totally hassle-free.

None of the starters played more than 27 minutes, and for the likes of Joel Lukoji and Landry Ndikumana, only 13 and 18 minutes respectively were deemed sufficient for the task.

Only Titus Lual did not get playing time, for cautionary reasons, as he continues his recovery from long-term knee injury.

Fayed Bbaale played the most minutes of any Oiler and finished with 15 points and 10 assists, with Joel Kayira also netting 15 points.

Promising youngster Isaac Akoai finished with 13 points for the Oilers, who led 16-15 after the first frame but blew up their lead with a 25-5 second quarter.

UPDF’s Bang Desmasiro and Godwin Muhamireho dropped 16 points apiece but could not stop the Tomahawks from dropping to 0-2 for the season. The Oilers improved to 2-0.
