Sommet BC head coach Albert Aciko has admitted that his team needs significant improvement as they prepare for a demanding game week six featuring three consecutive National Basketball League (NBL) matches.

The first test comes on Wednesday, March 11, at Lugoga Arena, where Sommet BC will face unbeaten RezLife Saints. The Saints have won all five of their outings so far this season.

"We must work on our defense and ball movement. Mistakes will be costly against top teams like RezLife," Aciko said.

On Friday, March 13, Sommet hosts record holders City Oilers at Lugogo Arena. The Oilers remain unbeaten in three games and currently sit sixth with six points.

"This game is about focus and maintaining intensity for all four quarters. We need to build confidence and execute our game plan consistently," Aciko explained.

The week concludes on Sunday, March 15, against JT Jaguars, also at Lugogo Arena. The Jaguars have played fewer games and are positioned tenth with five points.

Despite the Jaguars having fewer wins, Aciko cautioned against underestimating any opponent.

"Every opponent is dangerous in this league. We must avoid complacency and play our system," he added.

Sommet BC has struggled with inconsistency this season, alternating between wins and losses, and has underperformed against both top-tier and mid-table teams.

"Improving our defense, reducing turnovers, and converting scoring chances will be key if we want to stay in contention for the top spots," Aciko said.

The team currently sits third in the standings with nine points from six games, recording three wins and three losses with a narrow point difference of +19.

A victory over RezLife Saints would close the gap at the top, while wins against City Oilers and JT Jaguars could solidify Sommet BC's position in the top three. Conversely, poor performances could see the team drop in the standings.

Elsewhere in the NBL

UPDF Tomahawks will host JT Jaguars at the Jaguars Den, with tip-off scheduled for 9 pm. The Tomahawks have struggled this season, winning only one of six games, while JT Jaguars sit tenth with five points from three matches. The game presents an important opportunity for both teams to build momentum.

UMU Flames take on Namuwongo Blazers at ABJA Park at 9 pm. The Flames are yet to register a win in four games and sit at the bottom of the standings with four points, while the Blazers have three points from two games.
