With just 3 games remaining to play in the FUFA Women's Super League, Kawempe Muslim have emerged as strong contenders for this year's coveted title.

Their recent victory against UCU coupled with a draw for Kampala Queens against She MAK has significantly held up their championship aspirations.

The match was off to an electrifying start when Hadijah Nandago struck gold in the 26th minute, giving Kawempe Muslim an early advantage. However, the lead was short-lived as Catherine Nakiridde of UCU showcased her prowess by converting a penalty in the 44th minute when Striker Jovia Nakagolo was fouled in the box, bringing the score to a nerve-wracking balance at half-time.

Later, striker Agnes Nabukenya lived up to her reputation by scoring a sensational goal just three minutes after the break, securing a much-celebrated win for the Kawempe side.

“It was a tight game, you could see the resilience and I hope we learn from our mistakes to perform better in our next fixture,” said UCU Captain Nicole Atimaku.

The weekend also witnessed a dramatic showdown at Kitende, where Phiona Nabudduwa's 39th-minute goal for Wakiso Hill was a game-changer, denying the Maroons a chance at an away victory.

Meanwhile, at Kabaka Kyabagu, Uganda Martyrs faced a tough challenge from the hosts Rines, resulting in a gripping 2-all draw as Asubo lost to hosts Lady Doves in Masindi.

With the league's conclusion fast approaching, UCU is now in a relegation zone with Asubo Ladies.

Despite having a game in hand against Lady Doves, UCU will have to win their game in hand to keep their chances of staying in the league alive.
