Florence Nakiwala, the third vice-president of FUFA has said the future of women's football in Uganda is now brighter than before after Guinness, Finance Trust Bank expressed their readiness to inject money into both the FUFA Women's Super League and Elite League.

"The coming on board of different sponsors to support women's football is an amazing feeling for us as a federation, and it shows that the sport is growing and taking the right direction."

"Therefore, the young girls out there that are playing football at all levels, the future is bright," Nakiwala said.

She made these remarks on Saturday while shedding light on the Women in Football Symposium Bonanza scheduled for today at the Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.

The Bonanza is aimed at recognising and awarding outstanding players, both current and former, coaches, and everyone who has done incredible things for women's football since its inception in Uganda.

Some of those set to be recognised are Crested Cranes and Kampala Queens midfielder and forward respectively Hasifa Nassuna and Fazila Ikwaput.

Former Crested Cranes players and coaches Oliver Mbekeka, Magida Nantanda, Jean Sseninde, Paul Ssali, Chris Kalibala, and female referee Shamirah Nabadda among others.

One of the sponsors of this Bonanza, Guinness through Matilda Babuleka said that their reason for supporting women's football is because one of their core values is inclusivity, and also football is a male-dominated sport, they felt that this is the time to recognise women who often don't receive the recognition they deserve.

"Women in sports, especially in male-dominated fields, often don't get recognised for their dedication, this event will therefore shine a light on the incredible women who are shining brightly in Ugandan football."

"Also inclusivity is a core value for our brand, and this occasion provides a unique platform to showcase our unwavering commitment to this principle," Babuleka noted.

This symposium will also be graced by the head of women's football in CAF Meskerem Goshime.
