The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, has held talks with Anh Tuan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The deputy minister's delegation included Vu Than Huyen, Ambassador-designate of Vietnam to Uganda, who presented copies of her Letters of Credence to Gen. Odongo.

During the Friday (September 12) engagement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations, recalling the historic State Visit of President Yoweri Museveni to Vietnam in November 2022.

A release from the ministry states that discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, and multilateral diplomacy.

Vietnam invited Uganda to participate in the upcoming signing of the UN “Hanoi Convention” against cybercrime and requested Uganda’s support for its candidacy in international forums.

Uganda, in turn, welcomed Vietnam’s proposals on joint ventures and pending cooperation agreements, particularly in agriculture and fisheries.
