President Yoweri Museveni has Tuesday, October 4, 2022, promoted First Son Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to the rank of full General, which is one of the highest ranks in the military.
However, the President has dropped him as the Commander Land Forces of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces.
Muhoozi has been replaced by Maj. Gen. Kayanja Muhanga, who was heading Operation Shujaa in DR Congo.
Lt. Gen. Muhoozi will remain the Senior Presidential Advisor on Military operations.
Muhoozi had hinted on Tuesday afternoon that he had held a meeting with his father in the morning and that he was due to announce changes in the army.
“I had a good discussion with my great father this morning. Apparently, my tweets scared Kenyans too much? He will announce the changes. There is a special prayer I shall make for our army,” Muhoozi tweeted.
It was not yet clear whether the changes were caused by the controversial tweets the General had shared recently about Kenya.
