Sejusa among 34 army Generals to be retired today

The retiring generals will be officially retired today (August 31) at a function organised at State House, Entebbe, by President Yoweri Museveni, who is the Commander-in-Chief. 

According to the list released by UPDF, the 34 generals include the former coordinator of intelligence, Gen. David Sejusa aka Tinyefuza (Pictured).

KAMPALA - The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has retired 34 Generals from the Army. 

The retiring generals will be officially retired today (August 31) at a function organised at State House, Entebbe, by President Yoweri Museveni, who is the Commander-in-Chief. 

According to the list released by UPDF, the 34 generals include the former coordinator of intelligence, Gen. David Sejusa aka Tinyefuza, the former chairperson of the General Court Martial, Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti, Lt. Gen. Joram Mugume, Lt. Gen. Prossy Nalweyiso, Maj. Gen. Stephen Kashaka, Maj. Gen. Joram Kakari, Maj. Gen. Phinehas Katirima, Maj. Gen. Elly Kayanja, Maj. Gen. Michael Ondoga, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Muheesi and the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maj. Gen. David Kyomukama Kasura, among others.  

The Generals are part of the over 1196 personnel that are set to retire under batch 12.

On August 30, over 260 officers were also retired at a function at the UPDF land forces headquarters in Bombo. 

The Bombo function was presided over by the UPDF Commander of Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. 

Since April 22 this year, the UPDF has been documenting and sensitising officers and men that have been lined up for retirement.  

The former security minister, Gen. Elly Tumwine, who died on August 25, was also lined up for retirement. 

“Today is an important day in the history of our motherland as some of our freedom fighters retire from the mighty UPDF with honour. May they continue upholding Uganda in their communities,” the deputy press secretary of the President, Faruk Kirunda, said.
