Foreign Affairs speaks out on Lt. Gen. Muhoozi's tweets on Kenya

The ministry further said that the Government of Uganda wishes to reiterate its cordial relationship with the Republic of Kenya and assure the people and the government of Kenya of a harmonious relationship that we value.
In a statement, the ministry says it has noted the debate on social media concerning the relationship between Uganda and our brotherly neighbor, the Republic of Kenya.

Uganda's foreign affairs ministry has today, October 4, 2022, weighed in on the ongoing social media debate surrounding the controversial tweets on Kenya by First Son Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Kainerugaba is also the army's commander of land forces and the senior presidential advisor on special operations.
In a statement, the ministry says it has noted the debate on social media concerning the relationship between Uganda and our brotherly neighbor, the Republic of Kenya.
“The Ministry wishes to emphasize that the Government and the people of ...Uganda treasure the existing strong bilateral relations between the people and the Government of ... Kenya based on our shared history, common values, mutual respect, trust, and the desire to build a unified East African Community.
To this end, the Government of the Republic of Uganda wishes to reiterate its commitment to good neighborliness, peaceful co-existence, and co-operation,” the statement reads.
The Ministry clarified: “The Government of the Republic does not conduct its foreign policy and other official business through social media nor does it depend on social media sources in dealing with other foreign governments.”
The ministry further said that the Government of Uganda wishes to reiterate its cordial relationship with the Republic of Kenya and assure the people and the government of Kenya of a harmonious relationship that we value.
The statement comes in the wake of a series of tweets on Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Twitter handle that have elicited sharp reactions on social media from top Kenyan government officials including Speaker of Parliament Moses Wetangula.
