They reiterated their commitment to focus efforts on the mutual regional security and development issues that impact the socio-economic welfare of the peoples of the two countries.
Odongo and Biruta appreciated the leadership of both countries - under President Yoweri Museveni and Paul Kagame - for their continued commitment to reviving and strengthening ties.
In April this year, Kagame visited Uganda to meet Museveni and attend the 48th birthday party of the UPDF Commander of Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is the First Son.

In a reciprocal gesture in June, Museveni travelled by road to Kigali for a four-day working visit, during which he also joined other heads of state for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Museveni was received at the Gatuna One Stop Border Post by Rwandan officials led by infrastructure minister Eng. Erneste Nsabimana.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Kigali to welcome the visiting Ugandan president.
