Four gunned down, five arrested after attack on Kasese Police Barracks

"The attackers were repelled during the exchange, two of them were put out of action while several were subdued and taken into custody," said a source close to the investigations.

KASESE - Four suspected panga-wielding thugs have been gunned down and five arrested after an early morning attack on a police barracks in Kasese district.

"Today, 01/11/2025, at around 0500/c, unknown people armed with guns, pangas and catapults attacked Kasese Main Police barracks. They shot many bullets into the air. Four male attackers dressed in civilian clothes and gumboots and armed with pangas were shot dead. 05 attackers arrested," Police in a statement.

Police added that "An unknown number of victims have been rushed to different health facilities for first aid."

According to preliminary information, the suspects, who were said to have been armed with pangas, raided the police barracks at about 5:00am,  prompting a swift response from officers on duty.

Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson Nelson Tumushime confirmed the incident in a brief statement.
