Excitement filled the air today (May 8, 2026) morning as about nine military parachutists descended from the skies in a breathtaking display of precision and discipline during final rehearsals ahead of the May 12, 2026, swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
Dropped from a military chopper hovering between 1000 and 1,500 feet above the ground, the paratroopers cut through the clear morning skies as thousands watched in anticipation.

The first paratrooper landed at remarkable speed, drawing loud cheers from sections of the security audience, before the others followed calmly and gracefully, floating down with the confidence and composure of seasoned air acrobats.
Their smooth landings marked one of the highlights of the rehearsals, which officially got underway at about 10:00am as security forces intensified preparations for next week’s national event.
The venue was buzzing with activity as senior security and military officials arrived to witness the final drills and coordinate the rehearsals.
Among those present was Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, Commissioner General of Prisons, Johnson Byabashaija, and Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba, among others.

Later, Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba arrived for the session, adding to the significance of the day’s activities.
The rehearsals are part of the wider preparations for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday next week, an event expected to attract dignitaries, security officials and guests from across the region.
