Five die in crash along Kyotera-Masaka road
“Five people have been confirmed dead. Among the five people were three females and two males. Six other people are critically injured - five males and one female. The victims were all moving in a taxi known as a drone, which had parked at the side of the road at Boteera. As they were off-loading people, a fuel tanker rammed into them,” Kasirye said.
Kasirye attributed the accident to recklessness and speeding, adding that the matter was still under investigation.

Five people are feared dead after a Tanzanian-registered truck registration number T813 DYP rammed into a passenger taxi registration number UBH 378W along the Kyotera-Masaka highway.
Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, said the accident occurred at Boteera along the Masaka-Kyotera highway.

While releasing the 2025 annual traffic statistics in April this year, the director of traffic and road safety, Lawrence Nuwabiine, said a total number of 26,044 road traffic crashes were reported last year, compared to 25,107 crashes recorded in 2024, representing an increase of 3.7 percent.
Nuwabiine said that of the 26,044 crashes, 4,602 were fatal; meaning that there was a life or more lost in these accidents, while 13,563 others were serious and 7,879 were minor.
