Former Speaker Among speaks out after 100-day house arrest

Among, who had been confined to her residence for about 100 days, says she is grateful to God for restoring her freedom and thanked the President and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for their roles in bringing an end to her detention. Among’s release followed a dramatic series of events that began in May when armed soldiers raided her residences.

Despite Among’s release and the announcement that she would not be prosecuted, questions remained over the status of investigations that had surrounded her since May.
