KAMPALA - The third edition of the National Youth Convention is set to happen this Friday (May 27).

It will be held at State House, Entebbe, with the First Lady and education minister, Janet Museveni, expected to grace the event.

The convention will be themed 'Our future, our values: Navigating through the shifting moral culture'.

Participation will be hybrid - both physical and online (via Zoom).

Previous editions have emphasized the need for practical skills for young people, including entrepreneurship.

Youths were tasked with starting business enterprises and inspired to inculcate the spirit of service in their workplaces and other spheres of influence.

This year's convention will build on the gains of the last two conventions, which were supported by the Office of the First Lady, Uganda Youth Fraternity and Uganda Church Law Fraternity.

Distinguished and seasonal speakers will mentor and equip participants with a wide spectrum of skills.

Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world, with over 70% of its 48 million people under the age of 30.

Friday's youth convention will, therefore, focus on values and shifting moral culture among the youth.

The guest speakers will include:

- Beat Baingana Bisangwa, the founder and team leader of Rhema Women’s Space

- David George Kabiswa, the director of ACET Uganda & Leadership Consultant with GLS

Others will be Justice Mike Chibita, Dr. James Magara, Gyaviira Ssemwanga, Lady Justice Monica Kalyegira Mugenyi, and youth leader Ronald Williams Asiimwe.
