📷 First Lady opens 7th National Youth Convention

KYANKWAZI - The 2024 National Youth Convention kicked off Tuesday (September 24, 2024) at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi district.

The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, presided over the event, giving a keynote address on patriotism.

The Uganda Christian Lawyers’ Fraternity (UCLF) and Uganda Youth Forum (UYF) organised the event.

Justice Mike Chibita, the UCLF Patron, Dr. James Magara, Chairman Board Uganda Youth Forum, Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, Deputy Inspector General Of Government (IGG), among others, received Mrs. Museveni on her arrival for the event.

The 10-day event brought together over 350 youth for the physical convention while a provision for online audiences via YouTube will accommodate those offsite.

The event is designed to instil principles of loyalty, steadfastness, and commitment both to self and to the betterment of the nation. 

It also aims to empower the youth to lead healthy, productive and transformed lives in the 21st century through enhanced patriotism, positive mindset change, and character development among the youth.

It also aims to strengthen the capacity for youth participation in community service and national transformation enhance a sense of responsibility among the youth and tackle the adverse effects of the corrosive culture of materialism, get rich-quick and self-entitlement among the youth.
