UGANDA | YOUTH | DEVELOPMENT
The First Lady, who is also the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Museveni, has said the youth play a crucial role in national development.
“I am honored to invite all our young people to the Fifth Virtual National Youth Convention this Friday. "Your contributions as youth are essential for our nation,” she tweeted on Tuesday (March 28, 2023).
The event, which is expected to be hosted by Mrs Museveni at State House Entebbe, is the fifth virtual national youth convention and is structured under the theme: Wisdom: A Steadfast Walk on the Sacred Foundation.
According to Mrs Museveni, this year’s theme highlights wisdom’s importance in building a strong society.
“By attending, you can engage in discussions, share insights, and explore wisdom’s facets,” she said.
Mrs Museveni encouraged the youth to participate in the convention so that they could shape the future of the nation.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, Uganda has the second-youngest population in the world. More than three-quarters (78%) of its citizens are below the age of 35.
