Amuria farmers receive financial literacy skills

According to Ebiru, the beneficiaries will roll out the program by training members of their communities with the aim of improving their capacity to save and manage finances in their households.

AMURIA - A total of 52 farmers in Orungo County, Amuria district, on Friday, August 29th, completed a course on financial literacy.

The training, which has been running for 5 days at Orungo Sub-County Headquarters, was facilitated by Bank of Uganda in Partnership with Asedi Agric Services Ltd.

Nathan Ebiru, the executive Director Amuria district Development Agency, said the initiative by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen JeJe Odongo, provided knowledge in saving and management of finances to the community.

He said the beneficiaries were drawn from 6 Sub Counties and one town council found in Orungo County.

According to Ebiru, the beneficiaries will roll out the program by training members of their communities with the aim of improving their capacity to save and manage finances in their households.

Andrew Kawere, the director, National Payment Systems Department at Bank of Uganda, urged beneficiaries of the training to embrace saving, plan for their finances and invest for the future.

Stephen Egonyu, the Chairperson LC III Orungo Town Council, said the training is a good gesture to the people of Orungo and urged the beneficiaries to share knowledge with community members.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the training opportunity, adding that they will utilise the knowledge to benefit their households and scale it down to the rest of the community members.
