Activist Praise Aloikin is under our custody — Police

KAMPALA - Police have dismissed reports that activist Praise Opoloje Aloikin was abducted, saying she was arrested and is in police custody pending production before court.
Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma said Aloikin was apprehended over alleged offences and will be brought before court at an appropriate time.
“She was apprehended, is in police hands, and at an appropriate time she will be placed before the temple of justice to answer for those allegations brought against her,” Kituuma said today (September 28) during a weekly security briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.
He was responding to reports that circulated over the weekend on social media alleging that Aloikin had been abducted.
Kituuma said the Police were aware of her digital activities and maintained that people who break the law should be prepared to face the legal process.

Over the weekend, a group of lawyers and activists demanded Aloikin’s immediate release, claiming that she had been taken away by armed men from police custody. They also demanded that authorities account for her whereabouts and produce her before court.
