Ruth Nankabirwa, the Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, also the Bible Society House chief mobiliser, has appealed to all well-wishers to contribute towards the remaining sh7b needed for the completion of Bible House in Wandegeya.

Speaking to thousands of pilgrims that turned up to commemorate Martyrs’ Day at the Anglican shrine in Namugongo on Saturday, June 3, Nankabirwa said that once this money is in place, the Bible House will be completed in remembrance of the late Simon Peter Mukhama, the former Uganda Bible Society general secretary.

“In honour of our dear leader, Mukhama, we are determined to complete this house and keep his legacy alive. He initiated this project two years ago, we, therefore, call upon every one of you to make his dream come true,” she said.

Mukhama passed away on May 12, 2023, at Mengo Hospital where he was taken for treatment after feeling unwell.

In 2018, the Uganda Bible Society held a groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Bible House, a seven-floor, sh31b monument to accommodate offices and commercial space.

The Bible Society of Uganda is a Christian non-governmental organisation that serves churches and the general public by making the scripture affordable and available in languages that people understand best.
