In line with its strategic objective of making Bibles more available, affordable and accessible, the Bible Society of Uganda has given out Bibles to Churches, Christian Ministries, Chaplaincies and charitable organizations.

The beneficiaries include God’s Grace Miracle Ministry, Mutungo, Uzima Ministry, St Stephen Church of Uganda, Nsambya Police Barracks, Kayunga Child Development Centre, Street Joint Foundation Uganda, Namirembe Diocese, Hope for Katanga Kids Project, Uganda Union SDA Church, Mercy Child Care Ministries and Africa Inland Church. Others are Save the Mothers, St Luke Mulago Church of Uganda, Life Ministry Uganda, Deliverance Churches, Global Belief, Soul Winning Deliverance Church Bwaise, Divine Harvesters Church, Kids Club, Kampala, Makerere SDA Church, Kyebando Baptist Church, Mukono Diocese Church of Uganda Hospital, World, Trumpet Ministries, Central Buganda Diocese, Wakisa Ministries, Palliative Care Association of Uganda and Excellence in Christ Church, just to mention a few.

The Bibles were handed over to the respective beneficiaries by the Programs Director of the Bible Society of Uganda, Barbara Atwiine Aziirwe.

The simple but colourful function took place at the Bible House in Kampala (Bombo Road).

Aziiirwe said the donation of the Bibles was in line with the organisation’s strategy of making Bibles affordable and accessible to all people at all places.

“Our aim is to make the Word of God available in every house, every heart, every hotel and every hospital.”

Rev. Samuel Muwonge, a beneficiary, said the Word of God was needed even more than ever because many people, including the ministers of the Church, had failed to assimilate the principles of Christianity, which was why they were acting contrary to the Biblical principles.

“It is disheartening to see a preacher changing women like a dress, yet the Bible says one man one woman. Many people are just paying lip service to their Christian faith. The availability and affordability of Bibles will help people to read the Word of God and get saved,” Muwonge said.

Dr. Martin Ruhweza of Uzima Ministry was also impressed by the gesture of the Bible Society.

“Many people cannot afford to buy a Bible, yet it contains the Word of God that has the power to transform them. So, the Bible Society is spot on. All I request our people is to spare time and read the Word of God so that their life can be transformed.”
