Mbarara sex workers lead in HIV, syphilis prevalence
Dr Musinguzi said despite targeted interventions among sex workers over the last four decades, the main drivers of infections among sex workers remain multiple sexual partnerships, inconsistent condom use, high population mobility, structural stigma, violence, limited economic opportunities, and barriers to accessing comprehensive HIV services.
Across the 15 surveyed areas, the findings revealed that one out of every three (31%) sex workers was living with HIV.
