Uganda's finance ministry will Friday conduct a press briefing in Kampala on the first quarter expenditure releases for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The ministry conducts press briefings on a quarterly basis immediately after the expenditure limits are communicated to the accounting officers.
This, according to permanent secretary Ramathan Ggoobi, is part of the overall Budget Transparency Initiatives.
"The briefing is aimed at informing the public on funds released for service delivery and other policy issues that affect utilization of funds and service delivery," Ggoobi, who is also the Secretary to the Treasury, said in an invitation letter to relevant stakeholders.
He said the briefing is also intended to provide information to all the relevant stakeholders to facilitate monitoring and accountability.
At the same event, the ministry will also launch the results of the 2025 Open Budget Survey (OBS), the 10th edition.
The OBS is a budget transparency assessment carried out by the International Budget Partnership (IBP) in 120 countries globally based on internationally accepted criteria.
The objective of the survey is to assess public access to central government budget information, formal opportunities for the public to participate in the national budget process.
"The OBS 2025 for Uganda was conducted by the International Budget Partnership in collaboration with Uganda Debt Network. The aim of the launch is to disseminate the results as well as share key commitments to improving budget transparency," said Ggoobi.
