Ayota defended the fund’s decision, saying the investment should be assessed as part of their wider portfolio and diversification strategy. He said NSSF does not put all its investments in one asset class because some investments may perform better than others. Ayota said NSSF should, therefore, be judged on the performance of its entire investment portfolio rather than on an individual investment.
