The Embassy of Uganda in Switzerland has partnered with Private Safaris, a leading African travel specialist in the Swiss market, to promote Uganda as a tourism destination and attract more Swiss visitors.

This partnership is part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the promotion of Uganda as a tourism destination and increase the number of tourists travelling from Switzerland to Uganda.

Switzerland is an important target market as the Swiss are among the world’s most frequent outbound travelers and have high spending power for international travel.

The campaign targets the high-value outbound travel market, with Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city, selected for its large concentration of affluent residents and strong potential for premium tourism.

A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the promotion features striking Uganda tourism images on trams operating across Zurich.

At the launch on 16th September 2026, trams operating across Zurich were branded with striking images of Uganda’s unique wildlife and nature offerings.

The branding on the trams complements a digital campaign launched at Zurich Main Train Station on 1 September, where promotional tourism videos showcasing the "Pearl of Africa" play on high-definition screens every 20 to 30 minutes, providing sustained visibility to residents, commuters and international travellers.

At the launch, Uganda’s Ambassador to Switzerland,  Marcel R. Tibaleka, flanked by a representative of Private Safaris, said the partnership is helping bring Uganda closer to the Swiss market and invite more visitors to experience the country.

The Embassy, he added, will continue strengthening partnerships and targeted tourism promotion initiatives aimed at increasing visitor numbers, tourism expenditure and length of stay from Switzerland.
