World-renowned ethologist, Dr Jane Goodall, on Sunday, touched down at Entebbe Airport ahead of celebrations to mark Ngamba Chimpanzee Island’s 25th anniversary. 

Before that, Goodall will deliver a public lecture to be held at Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Tuesday, August 22. 

Goodall was welcomed at Entebbe Airport by Priscillar Nyakwera, the operations manager under Jane Goodall Institute – Uganda, Ivan Amanigaruhanga the executive director, of Uganda Biodiversity Fund, James Byamukama, the executive director for Jane Goodall Institute – Uganda, Joshua Rukundo, the executive director Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust, Simon Nampindo, the executive director Wildlife Conservation Society – Uganda and Peter Apell, the programs director, Jane Goodall Institute – Uganda. 

Goodall is expected to meet First Lady Janet Museveni on Monday, August 21, and the European Union Ambassador on Tuesday evening after her public lecture. 

She will then grace the grand dinner to mark 25 years of Ngamba Chimpanzee Island at a function that will be held on Wednesday evening at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort. 

Goodall, also a United Nations ambassador for peace, will launch the office of Roots and Shoots at the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre commonly known as Entebbe Zoo, before visiting Ngamba Chimpanzee Island on Lake Victoria.  

She last came to Uganda in 2018 to mark Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary’s 20th anniversary.
