Over the last two years, Morocco has transformed its hospitality sector through large-scale investments.

The $9.3b (sh33 trillion) investments have been part of the kingdom’s 2023-2026 national roadmap that was designed to strengthen infrastructure and diversify the country’s tourism potential ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations that kicked-off on Sunday (December 21) in Rabat.

In the tourism industry, besides increasing the North African country’s total lodging capacity to more than 304,000 beds, a chain of five-star hotels and resorts were built and rehabilitated to accommodate the 24 AFCON 2025 finalists.

Uganda’s representatives to Africa’s premier competition, the Cranes (pictured below in training), are among the teams enjoying luxurious and dedicated five-star hotel accommodation across the six host cities of Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes and Tangier.

Cranes are booked at the STORY Le Carrousel Rabat, which is nestled a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Positioned along Rabat’s shoreline, this hotel draws character from this unique setting.

The tournament’s team bases were allocated according to a first-come-first-serve basis, with each hotel and training base approved by the Confederations of African Football (CAF), Africa's football governing body.

Teams were asked to put in first, second and third options, and whoever asked for the first option first and qualified quickest got allocated their pick.

Federations considered various aspects such as costs, proximity and privacy, before choosing their preferred base. That at least seemed to be the case for Uganda, as they opted for STORY Le Carrousel Rabat.

It is not entirely safe to judge a hotel solely by the way it looks on a booking site. While photos provide a visual guide, they can often be misleading, as they are curated by the hotel and the booking platform.

While the idiom ‘Never judge a book by its cover’ is a perfect reminder that first impressions can be misleading, for this particular situation, we will take exception and rely on the story-lecarrousel-rabat.com.

The STORY Le Carrousel Rabat looks a perfect accommodation for Cranes. It is more than a place to stay. It is a combination of unforgettable experiences.

The hotel’s curved design follows the coastline, maximizing exposure to both morning light and evening sunsets. Nearly every space, from guest rooms to restaurants, maintains a visual connection to the Atlantic.

Its high-walled reception throws you in the middle of nowhere. Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, the hotel’s rooms offer breathtaking views to the ocean.

For footballers used to outrageous luxury, the hotel’s standard rooms look big enough for comfort.

The luxurious facility's lounges appear spacious enough to give the Cranes players lots of space to relax in-between training sessions and matches.

Cranes’ designated training ground is a few minutes from the hotel. Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium and Al Medina Stadium, where Cranes are scheduled to play two of their games in Rabat, are less than an hour’s drive away.
