Weatherhead Hockey Club gave timely notice of its title ambitions with a 13-0 thrashing of Weatherhead Titans in a top-of-the-table clash in the National Hockey League.

Veteran striker Thomas Opio who scored four times against Titans, said the result was a total reflection of how ambitious they are this season.

“We are looking at the ultimate prize of winning the league title. This can be reflected in our performances and we want to keep that up,” remarked Opio.

After 24 minutes, Opio had two goals to his name but the Titans regrouped to frustrate Weatherhead until Colline Batusa scored twice on the stroke of halftime.

Opio continued to inflict more pain on the Titans, finding the net in the 46th and 48th minutes on a day to forget for the Titans. Maxwell Mugisa also scored four goals for Weatherhead.

Weatherhead skipper Moses Tushabe passed the day’s captaincy duties to Walter Barungi who marked the occasion with a goal.

Titans captain Stephen Juuko said they will make amends in the coming games as they continue to search for their first league points of the season.

“We were unfortunate after putting up a good show in the first half but can only promise our next opponent in the league to expect an improved side,” Juuko said.
