Weatherhead's emphatic 17-2 demolition of Titans has reignited their championship ambitions, delivering a powerful statement to the league that they remain serious contenders for the title.
The match showcased their attacking firepower, with Brian Okodi leading the charge in a standout performance that saw him net five goals, further cementing his reputation as a formidable forward who has seamlessly transitioned from defense.
Okodi was not alone in his brilliance. Ashraf Tumwesigye contributed four goals, while Moses Tushabe and Arnold Kasumba each secured hat-tricks, underscoring the team’s offensive depth. New signings Swalik Isabirye and Umar Mufumbiro also made their mark with a goal apiece, highlighting the squad’s strengthened roster.
Reflecting on the victory, Okodi emphasized the team’s determination to maintain momentum.
"We’re focused on winning every remaining game to close the gap with the leaders," he said. This mindset has already borne fruit, as the win propelled Weatherhead into second place with nine points, just one behind table-toppers Wananchi—despite their 4-2 loss to the same opponents the previous weekend.
Wananchi, who themselves secured an 8-0 victory over Rockets, remain in pole position but now face heightened pressure as Weatherhead’s resurgence tightens the title race. With such a commanding performance, Weatherhead has not only revived their own hopes but also set the stage for a thrilling battle at the top of the league.
