Vision Group Woodball team captain Charles Lubwama has attributed the below-expectation performance of his team to a lack of training and new signings.
Lubwama was speaking after the games that saw Joan Najjuma and Rose Nakandi win bronze in the women's doubles of the first outing of the National Corporate Woodball circuit at Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
Kisubi’s corporate (201 strokes) emerged as the winner in the 8-team men’s category, while the Ministry of Public Service (251 strokes) was the winner of the women's category in the team category.
He noted that the young players are yet to master the game but that he has all the hope for better performances.
“We had many young players who got to the course for the first time but am confident after some training we shall put up a better performance in the next outing,” Lubwama said.
“We shall start serious training at City High school which has a longer and better challenging course than our compound course,” Lubwama said.
Najjuma is now ranked sixth with five points in the senior corporate women's and Rose Nakandi is tenth in the corporate women with 21 points.
Patience Ainembabazi (Ministry of Public Service) won the female corporates, while Eric Enabu (UNEB) won the men’s category.
Raymond Ssemata (Kisubi Corporate) won the senior men's, and Phiona Namata (Bank of Uganda) won the women's category.
Vision Group was early this month admitted as a full member of the Uganda Woodball Federation.
