Prostat Academy football team has pledged to represent Uganda with pride at the prestigious Dana Cup tournament, set to kicked off on Monday in Hjørring, Denmark.
The Dana Cup, taking place from July 21–26, is regarded as the world’s most international youth football tournament, attracting over 1,100 teams from 45 nations. It offers young athletes a unique platform to showcase their talent and foster global friendships.
After arriving in Hjørring on Monday morning, Prostat Academy’s director, Richard Mugerwa, expressed optimism about their mission.
“We have arrived safely for the opening ceremony and we promise to represent Uganda well in this tournament,” said Mugerwa.
The 21-member delegation includes players, team officials, and coaches led by Muhammad Ssenfuna, also head coach at Maroons FC. The team will compete in two age categories: U12 and U14.
Prostat departed Uganda on Saturday following a vibrant flag-off ceremony attended by Kasangati Town Council Mayor Tom Muwonge and supportive parents, including singer and activist Michael Mukwaya, popularly known as “Mikie Wine”—brother to opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi.
Mayor Muwonge urged the team to maintain discipline, noting it as a critical factor for success on an international stage.
Prostat Academy, which is run by staff from Vision Group, receives sponsorship from both Vision Group and the African Union (AU).
