BUL FC coach Abbey Kikomeko believes eliminating Express in the Stanbic Uganda Cup was not an easy task.

Kikomeko revealed this after they defeated Express 4-1 in penalties after 1all draw at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in the round of 16.

"It was not an easy win but we fought for it. Though we lost concentration to concede but we played with a lot of character. We might have missed a lot of chances but the determination of the players was good," noted Kikomeko.

Substitute Ibrahim Mugulusi had given BUL a lead in the 86th minute before Express managed to bounce back with Edgar Katumba's equaliser in the 89th minute.

When they went into spot kicks, Lawrence Tezikya, Benon Tahomera, Joel Mutakubwa and Ibrahim Kazindula scored for BUL while John Asiimwe scored for Express before Marvin Oshaba and Issa Lumu missed penalties.

Express Captain Ramsay Kawooya revealed that they will now focus on the league.

"We now shift our ambition in the league. We want to try to perform better than we have been doing. We tried against BUL but we only lost in penalties which is understandable," noted Kawooya.

Elsewhere, Paul Mucureezi and Frank Tumwesigye each had a goal as Kitara beat SC Villa 2-0 at Masindi stadium in other Uganda Cup game.

Kitara, BUL and Pajule Lions are other sides that have qualified for quarterfinals of the Uganda Cup. Pajule ejected Young Simba 1-0.

The competition will resume on Monday as URA hosts KCCA at Mehta stadium in Lugazi.

This season’s prize money courtesy of Stanbic Bank and Kansai Plascon is sh180m with the winner walking away with sh50m.
