Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) has received international acclaim after being recognized by FIFA for submitting one of the best strategic plans under the 2024 FIFA Club Management and Professionalisation Programme.
URA FC emerged as one of only two global winners, alongside ASEC Mimosas of Côte d'Ivoire—a milestone achievement for Ugandan football.
“We are pleased to announce the two winning submissions: ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire) and URA FC (Uganda),” FIFA stated in its official announcement.
FIFA also confirmed that both clubs will be invited to the upcoming Club Management Network Session in New York, with further details to be communicated directly to the winners.
URA FC earned this prestigious honor after participating in the FIFA programme earlier this year at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala. Organized in partnership with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), the initiative aimed to equip Uganda Premier League clubs with modern football management skills.
As part of the programme, participating clubs were required to submit strategic plans focused on key areas of growth. URA FC’s submission stood out for its comprehensive and forward-thinking approach.
The club’s plan emphasizes sustainable talent development using the Balanced Scorecard model, which integrates financial management, stakeholder engagement, internal processes, and learning and development. Beyond football, the strategy also focuses on long-term player development—from grassroots to post-retirement—helping athletes build life skills and career pathways that contribute to national development, including increased tax revenue.
FIFA’s recognition comes with support to help URA FC implement its strategic vision, further positioning the club as a leader in innovation and professionalism within Ugandan football.
FUFA celebrated the achievement, calling it a proud moment for the nation. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), FUFA President Moses Magogo praised the club:
“This achievement is a testament to URA FC’s dedication and commitment to excellence. We are thrilled that they will represent Ugandan football on the global stage,” he posted.
