Pearl of Africa T20 Series
Uganda 170/7 in 20 overs
UAE 162/9 in 20 overs
(Uganda won by 8 runs)
The Cricket Cranes retained the Pearl of Africa T20 Series after a commanding performance by the middle order at the Entebbe Oval on Sunday.
Uganda won the toss and elected to bat, setting a respectable total of 170 for the loss of seven wickets. This was largely thanks to powerful innings from man of the match Alpesh Ramjani (56) and Raghav Dhawan (56), who took charge during the middle overs.
The score climbed steadily as the Ugandan batsmen pushed for boundaries. In reply, Uganda bowled with consistency and denied the UAE any meaningful partnerships throughout the innings.
Ethan D’Souza top-scored for the visitors with 32 runs, but he did not remain at the crease long enough to do lasting damage, as Uganda’s bowling attack maintained pressure.
Dinesh Nakrani and Frank Nsubuga took two wickets each, while young Matthew Musinguzi made a crucial breakthrough by ending the UAE’s only promising partnership in the middle order.
It was a proud day for captain Juma Miyaji, who led Uganda to a perfect record of six wins from six matches.
“I’m very happy to win six out of six in my captaincy. The boys have worked really hard and put in the yards,” stated Miyaji.
“These games have given us the momentum to push forward in our upcoming games. Everyone is ticking the box, and we just have a few things to work out, and we shall be ready,” he added.
Raghav Dhawan finished as the tournament’s top run-scorer, while Haida Ali was named best bowler. Alpesh Ramjani took home the most valuable player award.
