Africa Region T20 World cup
Result
Uganda 152/9 Zimbabwe 157/5
(Zimbabwe win by five wickets)
In the end, Zimbabwe were just too good for Uganda.
The focus now is on getting out of Group B, which is a must to keep Uganda's World Cup dream alive.
Zimbabwe should go on to win the group after defeating the Cricket Cranes by five wickets at Harare Sports Club Friday in a performance powered by Brian Bennett's 72-run showcase.
The opener scored the game's only half-ton as the home side chased 153 for victory, and his standout performance easily decided the destiny of the contest.
Uganda had decent batting performances from Summet Varma (45 runs), Riazat Ali Shah (35), and Raghav Dhawan (29), but none rose to the pitch that was always going to be needed to overcome a Zimbabwe side that had an axe to grind.
Juma Miyagi took two wickets but gave up 42 runs in four overs. Cosmas Kyewuta, Joseph Baguma and Henry Ssenyondo took one wicket apiece for the Cranes, who are next face Tanzania on tomorrow.
