There will be no leadership vacuum in the Uganda Lacrosse Association anymore after the vacant executive positions were filled in an extraordinary meeting.

A lot of questions were being asked in the Lacrosse fraternity and few answers were being given but a first step was taken to have sanity restored in the sport.

A meeting called on Sunday afternoon at the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Nakawa saw the pioneers of the sport, school representatives, and current players converge to find a solution to the leadership vacuum in the association.

Leonard Lubambula who was the acting general secretary of the association and the chairman of the meeting assumed the role of acting president until December when the elective Annual General Assembly is set to be held.

Lubambula replaced Kenneth Kasule who assumed office last year resulting from the suspension of Ibrahim Makanda who was told to step aside by World Lacrosse arising from allegedly mismanaging funds and office to allow investigations although Kasule also vanished with sh60m intended to purchase national team tickets for the recently concluded world Lacrosse men’s championships in the USA.

As the investigations are ongoing for the two presidents, a decision resorted to replacing the executive members whose whereabouts are not known.

Lubambula assumed the role of the president, Douglas Nyakana was appointed general secretary and James Okello was retained as association treasurer.

Bugembe Andrew retained his public relations role, Development Officer Keith Lubangakene was replaced by Richard Akena, Andrew Mamawi,  Bernard Otim was replaced by Allan Ssemiyagi  Dorothy  Nakato was replaced by  Marion Nandala, Marketing department comprises of Gonahasa Peter not yet been replaced, Bashir Mugano, Men Captain, Michael Bahizi was replaced by Shaban Pitta and the advisors Isaac Ssekamwa and Sharon Nassaza were retained.

Lubambula assured members present that the executive is going to put in place measures to have a constitutional review and also prepare a road map for the AGM.
