Uganda 85 Eswatini 34
Wednesday
The She Cranes dominated Eswatini with an 85-34 victory, reviving their hopes of winning the Africa Netball Cup.
The team started strong, determined to make up for their earlier loss to Zimbabwe. They overwhelmed the inexperienced Eswatini side, securing a 48-3 lead by halftime.
Although Eswatini improved as the match progressed, Uganda had already done the hard work in the first quarter. Coach Nelson Bogere then rotated his squad, giving fringe players a chance to shine as they sealed the 85-34 win.
“Every team in this championship is very good, and you cannot underestimate anyone because everyone wants to win. We, as Ugandans, consider ourselves the best team in this tournament. I know it won't be easy, but we still have a lot of hope,” said Eyaru.
Uganda showed great resilience in bouncing back from their loss to Zimbabwe. However, with South Africa looming in the semifinals, the challenge will be tough.
“For the semifinals, we will go hard. We could face either South Africa or Malawi. We don't feel they can beat us; we are very strong and believe we can win the championship. We've learned a lot from previous games and will use all we've learned,” Eyaru explained.
Uganda must maintain their belief and address their discipline issues, as they had two players sin-binned for two minutes each against Namibia.
