Uganda’s She Cranes continued their impressive start to the Celtic Cup, defeating Northern Ireland 72–46 in their second match of the tournament on Thursday.
The team stepped up their shooting and kept the Warriors under pressure with quick footwork and sharp anticipation both on and off the ball. They closed the first quarter with a 19–11 lead, extended it to 38–22 by halftime, and maintained their dominance throughout the second half to seal a commanding win.
Mary Nuba played all four quarters, while Specioza Namukose made her debut appearance in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. “We had a good start. We wanted to start strong and finish strong, and I think that’s what we did. We are going into every game determined to execute,” Nuba said.
Next up, Uganda faces hosts Scotland on Friday in what promises to be a crucial encounter. Scotland opened the tournament on Wednesday with a victory over Wales, the highest-ranked side in the competition, a result that has added intrigue to Uganda’s campaign with three matches still to play.
“The game plan tomorrow is to start strong and finish strong. We need to do more work in the mid-court,” Nuba added.
With confidence high and momentum building, the She Cranes now prepare for their toughest tests as they aim to maintain their winning streak in Glasgow.
