The National Netball Super League will proceed as scheduled despite the absence of 12 She Cranes players currently representing Uganda at the prestigious Celtic International Netball Cup in Scotland.
A mutual agreement between the organising committee and Netball Uganda, the sport’s governing body, confirmed that the league would continue uninterrupted.
The calendar remains packed with major engagements, including the Africa Netball Championship from December 8–13 and the AUUS Games from December 18–23. As a result, fixture adjustments have been made for leading contenders KCCA Netball Club, NIC Netball Club, and Prisons Netball Club, all of whom have released several players for national duty.
KCCA, currently leading the table with 37 points, will resume action on December 3 against Weyonje Netball Club, reuniting with their returning internationals. They will then travel to Namibia for the Africa Netball Cup before facing Prisons in a decisive clash on December 17. KCCA is missing four key players: shooter Shadia Nassanga Sseggujja, and defenders Shaffie Nalwanja and Christine Nakitto.
NIC, sitting second with 35 points, will rely on their remaining squad when they face Posta Netball Club this Saturday. Their fixtures against UCU Netball Club (December 3) and Weyonje (December 17) will be played once their internationals return. NIC is without five players: center players Margaret Baagala and Fildauce Namulema, defenders Shakira Nassaka and Gloria Ayaa, and shooter Racheal Nanyonga.
Prisons, in third place with 33 points, will continue with their scheduled matches despite missing Lilian Ajio and Malisera Akello. They face Luweero Netball Club this Saturday before a potential title-decider against KCCA on December 17.
According to Netball Uganda’s revised constitution, any team missing three or more players due to national duty may choose to postpone fixtures or proceed with available players. The decision rests with the clubs themselves.
Meanwhile, the She Cranes are competing in the Celtic International Netball Cup
