Namuwongo Blazers will face Rezlife Saints on Wednesday in a National Basketball League clash at ABJA Park, with both sides level on record after winning five of their six games this season.
The two teams head into the game tied on 11 points. The Blazers sit seventh on the table with a superior points difference of 90, while Rezlife Saints are fifth with a +60 margin.
Blazers guard Ivan Muhweezi believes the game will be a true test of their ambitions this season.
“This is a big game for us because we are playing a team that is also in good form. We respect them, but we are ready to compete and fight for the win,” he said.
Namuwongo Blazers have been one of the most consistent teams this season, winning their last five matches against JKL Dolphins, KCCA Panthers, Victoria Crocs, UMU Flames, and UCU Canons.
Their only defeat came in the opening game of the season against City Oilers—a result Muhweezi says helped shape their current form.
“That loss to the City Oilers taught us a lot as a team because we saw our weaknesses early. Since then, we have improved in defence, teamwork, and game management,” he explained.
Rezlife Saints have also enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning their first five games before suffering their only loss to Sommet.
Muhweezi noted that the Saints’ form makes them dangerous opponents.
“They started the season very well, and winning five straight games shows they are organised and confident, but we are focused on our game plan,” he added.
Statistically, the Blazers hold the edge in scoring with 435 points compared to the Saints’ 445, while conceding fewer points (345), underscoring their strong defence. Rezlife Saints, however, will rely on their form and balanced attack to challenge the Blazers.
